Paradox got back in to the swing of things with the Republic, allowing you to play as a noble family in a republic, such as Venice, Genoa or Gotland. Avoid unless you want to be a completionist. I’ve played CKII with this DLC turned on very rarely and it is good for the odd alt-history game, but it seriously screws up a ‘normal’ game. Sunset Invasion – 16th November 2012Ī bizarre misstep by Paradox so early in CKIIs life – this DLC has seriously overpowered Aztecs invading Europe. The first main DLC opened up Muslim Rulers as now playable, with new and interesting mechanics for them the Greed vs Nobility mechanic making it particularly challenging and rewarding to play a Muslim ruler. The chance to create your own dynasty from scratch and see it rule most of the world…or fall into endless obscurity, is a chance worth paying for. Such a small DLC but an absolutely crucial one – I rarely ever play CKII now without using my own created character.
